What is Drawing?
Co-curated with Dr. Mike Collier (University of Sunderland)

27 September – 17 November 2013

Private View: Friday 27 September 6-8pm

"This exhibition marks the beginning of a longer term project where we aim to host a year of Drawing in 2015, inviting artists nationally to focus on this important yet often hidden discipline. Drawing is an essential tool for artists and their practice and yet it is often regarded as merely a preparatory process for something else – something regarded as more important, such as painting, perhaps.

However Drawing can be executed with such great command, skill and passion that it can rival any other creative discipline.   We are therefore, looking forward to creating a focus on this practice and giving it the platform it deserves. For this exhibition, we bring a diverse range of Drawings from the miniature to the expansive and encompassing."
